Style

Not a #styleblogger by trade, just stylish in general.

I had to check out DC’s latest craze the “Future of Sports.” A pop-up art installation in Washington, DC. #FutureofSports is a two-story interactive exhibition celebrates art and sports, featuring different interactive rooms featuring different sports including: soccer, basketball, track tennis, boxing, volleyball, and cycling. The installation was curated by Made in the District (MITD) a media platform, creative agency and experiential event firm based out of Washington, DC. The Future of Sports art installation is the brainchild of Nicole Pinedo, MITD’s founder and creative director.

I’m wearing a vintage Air Force jacket from Beyond Retro in Stockholm, Sweden. I’ve been playing around with my old silver hoop earings from college and my sneakers are Nike Air Revolution Sky Hi Women’s Shoes. I think the most important thing to note for my makeup is my MAC highlighter “Mineralize Skinfinish,” in the color  Soft and Gentle.

This look is ALL ABOUT the blazer. I found myself fixating on the lingerie as outerwear trend. I purchased the blazer for a cruise with my mother. Who knew that a simple velvet blazer meant to keep me warm for night events on the boat would SLAY at brunch.

Paired with TOP SHOP high-waited damage denim and clear heels (not the stripper variety) but the Forever 21 translucent variety. We had brunch at Oz Arlington, which is featured on the Real Housewives of Potomac. The restaurant had amazing service and the brunch deal was amazing. More importantly, The setting was perfect to snap the best photo that basically says #YouCantSitWithUs

Took some time to catch some rays in Miami for #SweetHeatMiami an annual lesbian event in South Beach Miami. I needed the perfect swimsuit that would be both pool and beach friendly, because I LIKE TO SWIM. I was able to get a swimsuit quickly from Forever 21. I hate the fact that swimsuits are no longer a package deal and you have to buy piece by piece.

This bright orange suit wasn’t exactly my first choice. I wanted to purchase it in white and I am SO GLAD the white was sold out because the orange truly popped.

Forever 21, Choker Bikini Top, $17.90

Forever 21, Cheeky Bikini Bottoms, $12.90

My 1st outfit for #SweetHeatMiami was ripped completely from the Forever 21 website. I bought the sheer dress and I already had several different black high-waisted booty shorts… Yes, I have options. For the trip I decided to go with a pair of pleather fronted short I got many years ago from Urban Outfitters. The crop top was also a sale purchase from Urban Outfitters.  The mirrored sunglasses were an add-on Forever 21 purchase I made last summer.

I try not to be too trendy but some trends I can’t resists. The sneaker look is the best thing to happen for orthopedic surgeons and women. The fact that I can look cute and club without my feet hurting is a blessing

My friend and co-worker Shawn and I attended The Victory Fund brunch. The Victory Fund is the only national organization dedicated to electing openly LGBTQ people who can further equality at all levels of government. LGBTQ elected officials are our best defense against anti-LGBTQ efforts at all levels of government, and are best positioned to advance equality for our community. The brunch was one of the best fundraising events I’ve attended in D.C. ever (I’ve been to a lot of events).

I was on the fence about what to wear. I laid out about 4 options. I knew I wanted to wear white to contrast with my friends Shawn. I’ve had this dress for about a year. I had been waiting to bust it out and just never had the occasion… It was worth the wait.
